A Brief History

Hidden in a quiet courtyard in the heart of Saint-Germain-des-Prés at 54 rue de Seine, Les Studios Saint Germain has long been a sanctuary for music.

Originally founded in 1963 as Acousti Studios, it quickly became a haven for American jazz musicians from Miles Davis to Billie Holliday, drawn to the city’s spirit. Renowned French artists like Juliette Gréco, Mouloudji, Edith Piaf and Charles Aznavour, found magic in its warm acoustics and with the elegant Steinway grand piano that still sits in the main live room.

With its high ceilings, natural daylight, and elegant oak floors, the space still resonates with authenticity, soul and character after more than 60 years of recordings.

Reborn as Les Studios Saint Germain in 2015, it now blends its vintage history with modern expectations, drawing artists like Beck, Coldplay, Frank Ocean and The Rolling Stones, just to name a few. Film composers such as Alexandre Desplat and Rob Simonsen also recorded numerous scores in Studio A for recent international productions.
